Locate your data worldwide

Hi,

I have been wondering if anyone has a system where i can electronically tag a file so that it reports back on its location and if not in authorized locations or media it initiates a self destruct process either through deletion or obfuscation by encrypting and destroying the key. Currently  we can locate our mobile phones and tablets if they are stolen by simply using the find my phone feature, is there a way of finding data?
