Today the Blue Coat / Symantec virtual appliances still suffer from a lack of support for the host on which they are deployed.
Basic vmware tools is something I considere as a critical part of the virtual appliances and the ability to perform tasks from the host on the virtual appliance.
Various requests to get this fixed have fallen on deaf ears.
It seems Symantec still does not understand the requirements of their end-users as I find that every time I tell a customer that there is no support for vmware tools they look at me as if Symantec must be completely disconnected with the real world in which customer operate and manage their devices.
This means a customer will reconsidere their virtual appliance choice the next time they need to extend their contracts.
I strongly suggest Symantec changes their disconnected view of the world and steps into the world in which the customer actually operate.
As you might have understood by now this is something I feel very strongly about because I have to face customer and tell them that what they considere such a basic function is not present in the Symantec virtual appliances and I am past being nice about it making a point of this strange ommision.
